What is dismorphic features?

Dysmorphic features refer to an abnormal or irregular physical feature that is present from birth or develop later in life due to a genetic disorder or external factors. These features can be related to the shape or size of body parts such as the head, face, ears, nose, mouth, and limbs. Generally, dysmorphic features can affect physical appearance, intellectual ability, or the overall development of an individual. Some common characteristics include low birth weight, short stature, small head size, widely spaced eyes, flattened bridge of the nose, cleft palate, and abnormalities in hand and feet. Dysmorphic features can be indicative of an underlying genetic disorder, such as Down syndrome, Turner syndrome, or Marfan syndrome. It is important to identify such features promptly to initiate appropriate interventions and treatment.
